Hooray! I am pretty certain that you will benefit from looking at the FAQ.

I believe you need to put the pdf into memory and tell IE how big it is before
sending it to the browser. What is happening is that IE doesn't know how big the 
response is and disconnecting early - hence the stack trace.

Of course I could be wrong. Not the first time.
