Figuring out what you need to do to set the debug output to None
takes time. Especially when there is a lack of documentation.

Since the output is basically debug code and folks are going to 
start to use FOP embedded in production servlets, why not just 
make it easier in the default case?

Not sure I understand this request: If you are embedding Fop 
anyway, why don't you set the outputMethod to NONE in your 
code? I am also not sure that anybody would expect that output is 
NONE by default.
