Email Sending using Authenticated SMTP server

Summary: Email Sending using Authenticated SMTP server
           Product: Jetspeed
           Version: 1.4b1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Other
         Component: Miscellaneous
        AssignedTo: jetspeed-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: p_saville@yahoo.com

Possibility to configure an SMTP server that users authentication for the
EMAIL sending (could be any part of the email sending, e.g. New User
Confirmation, New User Request Notification etc).

This would facilitate the use of an external SMTP server using an existing
account.

e.g. I use POP and SMTP access at Yahoo and would like to configure my
JetSpeed portal to use my existing account.
