Subject RE: [jira] Created: (LUCENENET-43) Support for .NET Generics Needed
Date Sat, 23 Jun 2007 21:12:27 GMT

First, thanks for historical post references. However, I'm still not clear as to your reason
behind goal number two:

"The APIs are consistent between C# and Java Lucene. This is why I use "GetXYZ()" instead
of C# prosperities.".

While I understand the maintenance of the APIs from your perspective may be easier by keeping
the APIs consistent between the Java and .NET implementations, current .NET API design is
more of a hindrance for .NET developers. My hope is to increase adoption within the .NET community
by taking advantage of the language constructs such as Generics and indexes, which as I understand
are now available for Java.
