Subject [jira] [Updated] (COMDEV-116) Implement JSR 196 (JASPIC) for Apache Tomcat
Date Mon, 09 Feb 2015 20:58:35 GMT

Mark Thomas updated COMDEV-116:
Issue Type: New Feature (was: Bug)

Thanks for the interest. I've fixed the issue type.

The process hasn't officially started yet - we are still in the gathering ideas stage but
that doesn't have to stop you (or anyone else interested in applying) heading over to the
Tomcat dev list and starting to familiarise yourself with the code.

Just to state the obvious, the ASF hasn't been accepted for GSoC 2015 yet and, assuming the
ASF is accepted, there will be an official application process for each potential GSoC project.
What I can say is that someone who has already got involved in the community is likely to
do better in the application process that someone who hasn't.

> This project is to implement the Java Authentication Service Provider Interface for Containers
(JASPIC) - JSR 196 - for Apache Tomcat and replace the current authentication modules with
JASPIC equivalents.
> The intention is to implement this for Apache Tomcat 9. It is possible but unlikely that
it would also be back-ported to earlier versions.
> The development language will be Java.
