Jikes task does not handle missing directories in extdirs, javac does. Both should

Summary: Jikes task does not handle missing directories in
                    extdirs, javac does. Both should
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.4.1
          Platform: Macintosh
        OS/Version: MacOS X
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Core tasks
        AssignedTo: ant-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: scott@alodar.com

If you have a directory in your extdirs which does not exist, the javac task
trims it out, I believe by using the "Path" construct.

If you set build.complier=jikes, then it does not. Jikes then complains
about missing directories, and the compile fails.

I believe that this behavioral difference is significant, as it means that
even though MacOS X comes with jikes out of the box, one cannot use it in
compiles.

Note that Project Builder, from Apple, had similar problems until they
patched it to do much the same, so it is perhaps not surprising.
