Subject [jira] Updated: (SIS-13) Change QuadTree Reader/Writer to use URLs instead of String file paths
Date Tue, 09 Nov 2010 03:38:05 GMT

Chris A. Mattmann updated SIS-13:
---------------------------------

    Affects Version/s: 0.1-incubating
        Fix Version/s:     (was: 0.1-incubating)
                       0.2-incubating

- to address this we'll need to actually define different methods of storage for the qTree
index. The code right now is very FileSystem based. I could rename the classes to reflect
this (e.g., FileSystemBasedQuadTreeWriter, and FileSystemBasedQuadTreeReader), but I think
that doesn't add a lot of value considering there would only be 1 implementation. I toyed
with writing an interface like:

{code}
public interface QuadTreeReader{

   public QuadTree read() throws QTreeReadException;

   public void configure(Properties config) throws FileNotFoundException, IOException;

}
{code}

and similarly a

{code}
public interface QuadTreeWriter{

    public void writeQuadTree() throws QTreeWriterException;

    public void configure(Properties config) throws FileNotFoundException, IOException;
}
{code}

But then I decided that's best served for a 0.2-incubating feature.

> Per the email thread discussion here [1], it's probably a good idea to abstract away
the underlying Reader/Writer API for the QuadTree storage layer to use java.net.URLs instead
of String file paths.
