That's correct, Serf calls OpenSSL directly. Still, it's not a good idea to have multiple
versions of OpenSSL loaded in your process, so you'll have to compile APR with the same OpenSSL
version as Serf.

I suggest you use the latest APR and APR-Util releasee (1.7.x) with Serf 1.4.x.
