Hi James,

from the patch I see you've written straight Unicode. It gets displayed correctly, however
no one can read Unicode, included native speakers. We've got the same translation issue in
our project (it's Chinese, too) and came up with the solution to leave the CVS/SVN property
files with the chinese characters; but when deploying them, we do run an Ant task "native2ascii".

This does a conversion into Unicode (don't ask me why they don't call it "native2unicode"
;-)).

It is not even necessary to declare that the original is chinese; so it might work on other
languages as well. Just a suggestion ...
