Implemented and tested.
Im considered a better solution, to properly separate the attributes (prefs in JSR-168 terminology)
from the layout (PSML).

Here is an overview of the issue:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
        Key: JS1-467
Summary: Optionally Save State for Shared PSML Resources
       Type: Improvement

     Status: Closed
   Priority: Minor
 Resolution: FIXED

    Project: Jetspeed
 Components:
             PSML
   Fix Fors:
             1.6-dev
   Versions:
             1.6-dev

   Assignee: David Sean Taylor
   Reporter: David Sean Taylor

    Created: Fri, 30 Apr 2004 4:17 PM
    Updated: Mon, 3 May 2004 5:04 PM

Description:
As of version 1.5, PSML is automatically saved for all users on shared PSML resources, effecting
the 'view' of all users on shared resources. This improvement will make the autosave functionality
on shared resources optional. This will allow for users to change their view for their current
session, but not automatically save it.
Shared resources are defined as role or group based resources.
