Subject JSR 168 Comments

I would like to encourage the folks involved in the JSR 168 Portlet API
http://www.jcp.org/jsr/detail/168.jsp effort to include in the Portlet API a
standard way for dynamically bound Services to be accessed by the Portlets.

An example of such a service framework is Apache Jakarta Turbine's Fulcrum:
http://jakarta.apache.org/turbine/turbine-2/services.html.

Portlets need a standard way to request a Service object instance given a
service name. Once requested, the Portlet communicates with the Service via
the specific Service's API.

Developing a Portal application requires creation of Portlets and Services.
Having a standard for just one part of this, the Portlets, would not be a
complete solution. Having both Portlets and Services in the standard would
allow us a choice in which compliant Portal engine vender we choose to
deploy our application.

Thank you.
