Hi, 

I am running into the same issue.

I added the "/usr/lib/phoenix/*" as you suggested but now i get new error, 

/Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:

org.apache.phoenix.pherf.configuration.XMLConfigParser.<init>(XMLConfigParser.java:49)
	at org.apache.phoenix.pherf.Pherf.run(Pherf.java:233)
	at org.apache.phoenix.pherf.Pherf.main(Pherf.java:194)
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
org.apache.commons.lang3.StringUtils
	at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:381)
	at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:424)
	at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:331)
	at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:357)/


I think some of the JAR's are missing in the Phoenix jars.
