Subject Support for Variables in ODE
Date Wed, 28 May 2008 04:53:34 GMT
Hi,

The BPEL Specification says for using variables inside a BPEL Process we
can use this Syntax :

<variables>

<variable name="BPELVariableName"

messageType="QName"?

type="QName"?

element="QName"?>+

from-spec?

</variable>

</variables>

It explains that:

The messageType, type or element attributes are used to specify the type
of a variable. Exactly one of these attributes MUST be used. Attribute
messageType refers to a WSDL message type definition. Attribute type
refers to an XML Schema type (simple or complex). Attribute element
refers to an XML Schema element.

Does ODE support only messageType attribute here. Because when I
specified the variable as an XML Schema Element Type, the deployment
failed saying

"Cannot use non-message variable XX in this context (message variable is
required)"

So I made the variable type as messageType and then it worked. Why is
this happening? The WS-BPEL Compliance page in ODE website
(http://ode.apache.org/ws-bpel-20-specification-compliance.html) says
only the inline from-spec is not currently supported. Isn't XML Element
supported for Variables?

Thanks & Regards

Dhanush
