While working on https://reviews.apache.org/r/50853/, I thought that it wasn't easy to get
the C++ compiler vendor/version info from the output of the build process, but I clearly missed
the following lines:

```
checking for C++ compiler vendor... clang
checking for a sed that does not truncate output... /usr/bin/sed
checking for C++ compiler version... 7.0.2
checking for C++ compiler vendor... (cached) clang
```

Which is why I'm discarding this RR. Sorry for the inconvenience!
