Thanks Ed for pointing out your observations on RC-1.

Let us then cancel the RC-1 release and try again with RC-2. We will send out another email with a request for voting on RC-2.

Thanks again,
Rashmi

I took a quick look at the source release tarball and here are my
observations.  I hope to get an opportunity to build and perform a quick
sanity test.

Side note: I noticed most of the votes simply reply with "+1".  I do
understand that is what is asked for in the voting email. However, I was
under the impression it is generally good form to provide some level of
details supporting the vote (ie. what one did to support the vote). I base
this on reviewing other projects voting submissions and observing how the
IPMC members submit their votes as well. All projects are different and
they do have their own style. But still, IMHO only replying with a +1 seems
a bit odd to me. My caveat (Apache newbie-ness) still stands for this side
note. Please don't shoot! :)

Source tarball layout verification: FAILED

* Unlike the previous 1.10 release, there is no base directory in
source tarball. I expected to find the contents of source tarball
extracted into a directory named apache-madlib-1.11-incubating-src.
This is normally accomplished by specifying a --prefix option to the
  "git archive" command.  Example:

     git archive -o ../apache-madlib-1.11-incubating-src.tar
--prefix=apache-madlib-1.11-incubating-src/ rc/1.11-rc1

Question:

* I noticed the name of the source tarballs changed slightly from the
previous 1.10 release. Is this intentional?

   1.10 - apache-madlib-src-1.10-incubating.tar.gz
   1.11 - apache-madlib-1.11-incubating-src.tar.gz

Jira issue review (for items marked with Fix Version: v1.11):

There are three issues (links below) in "OPEN" or "IN PROGRESS"
state. At this point of the release cycle (ie. voting), shouldn't all
jiras identified as fixed for the release be marked resolved?
