I just successfully unsubscribed and subscribed to the dev-list. I did 
not test if an unsubscribe actually stopped sending me mail messages.

Quote the confirmation letter:

I haven't checked whether your address is currently on the mailing list.
To see what address you used to subscribe, look at the messages you are
receiving from the mailing list. Each message has your address hidden
inside its return path; for example,mary@xdd.ff.com  receives messages
with return path: <dev-return-<number>-mary=xdd.ff.com@lucenenet.apache.org.

Verify that the address you're sending from is the address that is 
subscribed. I guess we would have to file a bug report somewhere if this 
doesn't solve your problem.
