Subject Re: log4cxx file viewer

Hi,

Thanks for advice. Chainsaw's help is very poor. I have a configuration file log4cxx.properties
e.g. like this:

log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, stdout, R
log4j.logger.test.a.b.c=WARN
log4j.logger.filelogger=WARN, R
log4j.additivity.filelogger=FALSE

log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] %-5l - %m%n

log4j.appender.R=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
log4j.appender.R.File=cWatch.log
#log4j.appender.R.MaxFileSize=5MB
log4j.appender.R.MaxFileSize=500KB
log4j.appender.R.MaxBackupIndex=5
log4j.appender.R.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.R.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] %-5p %c - %m%n

And I got text file with log messages e.g. like this:

2009-05-03 16:23:29,117 [0x00000578] WARN null - Constructor...
2009-05-03 16:24:45,883 [0x00000ff4] WARN null - Constructor...
2009-05-03 16:24:45,883 [0x00000ff4] FATAL null - test...
2009-05-03 16:25:48,789 [0x0000034c] WARN root - Constructor...

I want to filter logs by some criterion. How can I do that?

Peter

Hi Peter,

You can use Apache Chainsaw for that, take a look at here:

http://logging.apache.org/chainsaw/index.html

If you are sending messages from log4cxx to log4j I recommend you use XmlSocketAppender to
do that...

Hi,

Is there any free viewer for log files generated by log4cxx?

Best Regards,
Peter
