log4cxx-0.9.7 had a large number of issues that have been already  
resolved in the CVS HEAD.  One in particular (http:// 
issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOGCXX-4) is likely the cause of the  
problem that you are running into.  Please try the CVS HEAD and see  
if the problem still persists.
