Subject Re: [PROPOSAL] Apache Aries incubator for Enterprise OSGi

I think it's important that Aries have its own identity independent
from a particular framework implementation (e.g. Felix or Equinox) or
Kernel (e.g. Karaf, Geronimo, etc.). Independence (both technical and
perception) will help make it equally consumable in each and increase
the likelihood of it being deployed in more environments.

I also believe Aries will attract a community which is sustainable and
different from those other projects. Given the goal to have Aries
components work on and/or be consumed by those projects I would hope
that the Aries community would share members with Felix, Geronimo,
ServiceMix, etc.. This outcome would be highly desirable. My hope is
that incubation will prove that Aries is indeed a sustainable
independent project and if that is found not to be the case, then that
is also a valid outcome.

Regards, Graham.
