Subject Re: Ode / BPEL Donation of BPEL 2.0 Engine

My preference would be on building, striclty speaking, a BPEL engine.
The whole BPM space is cluttered with different paradigms (classic
workflow, orchestration, document-style workflow...) and specs. BPEL
seems to be getting accepted as THE standard for orchestration, so
let's focus on it.

I actually liked Paul's idea of building a standard BPEL test set a
lot. This could be used by everybody as an entry point for building a
"reference" BPEL implementation.

I would say BPEL 2.0 in priority. Supporting BPEL 1.1 as well would be
fine but I wouldn't make it a priority. Developing software takes
time, so we have to think ahead.

If complete independance can be achieved, yes. If it can't, then we
should support the most popular app servers (Geronimo being number 1).

Relying, certainly not. A user who just want to do orchestration
should be able to do so without JBI. However we should be "friends"
and integrate nicely with each other.
