I wasn't suggesting it was optimal...just that in maven 2.0.x, it's a
chicken or egg kinda problem. The alternative is to replicate the repo
info in all the poms of the project and that's not good either.

If archiva was a library I'd say yes. But since archiva is more of a
collection of modules making up an application I would think that the
typical use case would be to check out and build the whole bundle, not
re-use parts of it.
