    Solaris is not my expertise either.
    The attachment
looks reasonable.
    So it is wrapping each $arg with double-quotes and a newline, then inserting backslash
before " or \ and then appending that value to the ant_exec_args.
    I do feel it is more readable to break it into multiple lines like that, but I think the
ordering may be off between the escaping and wrapping with quotes.
    Using the attachment change on ubuntu.
    $ ./bin/ant --execdebug run "-Dfoo=dollar\$backtick\`single'double\"backslash\\"
    exec "$JAVACMD" -Xmx512m -classpath "$LOCALCLASSPATH" -Dant.home="$ANT_HOME" -Dant.library.dir="$ANT_LIB" -cp "$CLASSPATH" "run" "-Dfoo=dollar$backtick`single'double"backslash\"
    ./bin/ant: 1: eval: Syntax error: EOF in backquote substitution
    I am using the double-quote description for ksh from this as guide to special characters.
    Going to play aroundmore. Maybe find a solarus box to test with as well
