I guess if something is -1ed and if the person who
committed doesn't debate over it, then the -1 stays
(implicit agreement with the issue raised).  So, yes,
it has to get backed out and if you want, it can
always be brought back up for discussion for 1.6.

It is difficult if not impossible to selectively tag,
branch, etc. I don't want to go there ;-)  Given the
situation, I would suggest you back it out for now,
and then, bring it up for discussion so that, if
accepted, it can be put into 1.6Alpha.

wrt <subst>, if it has not made it into CVS so far,
let us put it off until 1.6.
