Could it be that the value of the Java System property java.ext.dirs contains
a pointer to that directory in your VM?

Ant will "emulate" Java's extension dir mechanism and add all entries listed in
that property (unless you define the extdirs attribute for your <javac> task)
to the classpath.  It does not verify that the property contains sensible values.

jikes prints warnings if parts of your CLASSPATH don't exist.
