If you know which style task one would have to use, you could fake it
using project.createTask("style") and populate the attributes
yourself, no?

Not sure, I've seen you poll on ant-user and think this is a good
idea.  The change would have the biggest impact for people that have
their own modified versions of your original stylesheets, right?
People that use the task in default setup, wouldn't have to change
anything.

Let's see where we are going to end up with this discussion,
committing something to /etc could be done five minutes before a
feature freeze starts 8-)
