Not that I've followed this thread much, but my
off-the-cuff thoughts are that this is a bad idea. Why
is this necesessary? It seems to me that it is better
to save the information that the copied file *is*
newer than the original. The OS's date semantics
relative to copying files seem appropriate for the Ant

Is there some gained feature that I'm missing? It
seems to be yet another level of complexity that would
have to be "normalized" accross tasks (e.g.
